Creamy, spicy, and bright deviled eggs made with Greek yogurt and avocado instead of mayo. Perfect for last-minute potlucks, game days, or a healthy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1 ripe avocado (medium-sized)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 1 jalapeño (seeded and roughly chopped)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro (packed, plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Extra cilantro leaves (for garnish)
  • Thinly sliced jalapeño rounds (optional)
  • Smoked paprika (for garnish)
  • Flaky sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a medium saucepan. Cover with cold water by about an inch. Bring to a boil over high heat, then immediately remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, fill a large bowl with ice and water. After 10 minutes, transfer eggs to the ice bath and let cool completely, about 5 minutes.
  3. Gently tap each egg on the counter to crack the shell, then roll between your palms to loosen. Peel under running cold water. Pat dry.
  4. Slice each egg in half lengthwise. Carefully pop out the yolks into a bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter.
  5. In a food processor, combine the egg yolks, avocado, Greek yogurt, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Pulse until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides and adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Spoon the filling into a piping bag or zip-top bag. Twist the top to push the filling toward the tip. Snip off about 1/2 inch from the corner.
  7. Pipe the filling into each egg white half, creating a nice swirl. Do not overfill.
  8. Top each deviled egg with a small cilantro leaf, a thin slice of jalapeño (if using), a light sprinkle of smoked paprika, and a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt.
  9. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use older eggs for easier peeling. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free yogurt or increase avocado to 1 1/2 and add extra lime juice. To keep the filling green, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before piping. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
