This Best Honey Apple Cider Margarita is the kind of recipe that makes you look forward to fall all year long. It’s simple enough for a Tuesday night, impressive enough for a holiday party, and delicious enough to become your new seasonal signature drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) tequila (blanco or reposado)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) apple cider (unfiltered)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey (mild, floral like clover or orange blossom)
  • Ice (enough to fill glass)
  • Optional: Cinnamon-sugar rim (1 tablespoon sugar + 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)
  • Optional garnish: Thin apple slices, cinnamon stick, or fresh rosemary sprig

Instructions

  1. Prep your glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture (if using) and set aside.
  2. Mix the honey and lime juice: In the bottom of your glass, combine 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh lime juice. Stir until the honey is fully dissolved (about 20-30 seconds).
  3. Add the apple cider: Pour in 3 oz (90 ml) of apple cider. Stir to combine with the honey-lime mixture.
  4. Add the tequila: Pour in 2 oz (60 ml) of tequila. Stir gently but thoroughly. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if desired.
  5. Fill with ice: Add ice cubes to your glass. Large cubes are best to slow dilution.
  6. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice, a cinnamon stick, or a sprig of rosemary. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, mix honey with lime juice first to ensure it dissolves. Chill your glass in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving. For a party, prepare the honey-lime mixture in advance and store in the fridge. Use real honey, not honey-flavored syrup. Fresh lime juice is essential—bottled juice will ruin the flavor.
