This one-pan garlic butter salmon with asparagus is a quick, 25-minute meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests. With minimal cleanup and simple ingredients, it delivers restaurant-quality flavor with ease.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley or dill, chopped; red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper. Trim woody ends off asparagus.
  2. Place a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter. Once melted and foaming, add minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Place salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down. Cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip salmon fillets. Arrange asparagus around the salmon. Drizzle asparagus with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Add remaining 2 tablespoons butter to the pan.
  5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over salmon and asparagus. Lay lemon slices on top of salmon. Transfer skillet to preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, until salmon flakes easily and internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Spoon garlic butter sauce over salmon and asparagus. Garnish with fresh herbs or red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for a good sear. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Watch garlic closely to avoid burning. Let salmon rest before serving. For dairy-free, use vegan butter or ghee.
