This savory Worcestershire Chex Mix is the one you’ll come back to again and again. It’s got that deep, tangy kick, the perfect buttery coating, and a crunch that holds up for days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel twists, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup bagel chips, broken into small pieces
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (unsalted peanuts, cashews, and almonds)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line your roasting pan with parchment paper if using.
  2. Combine all the cereal, pretzels, bagel chips, and nuts in your largest mixing bowl. Gently toss with your hands to distribute evenly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne (if using), and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Pour the seasoning mixture over the cereal mixture slowly, drizzling as you go. Fold gently with a rubber spatula to coat every piece evenly.
  5. Spread the coated mixture evenly in your prepared roasting pan in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the pan from the oven and stir thoroughly.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove and stir again.
  8. Bake for a final 10-15 minutes, watching carefully, until the mix is deep golden and dry. Total baking time is about 55-60 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the mix cool completely in the pan (at least 30 minutes to 1 hour).
  10. Once completely cool, break up any large clumps with your hands. Transfer to an airtight container or serve immediately.

Notes

The biggest mistake is using too much butter; the ratio given is perfect. For even coating, drizzle the seasoning slowly while stirring. Let the mix cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. The flavors deepen after a day or two.
