cozy charcuterie board for two - featured image

A scaled-down, intentional charcuterie board perfect for two, featuring creamy brie, salty prosciutto, sweet figs, and crunchy nuts. Ideal for date nights, rainy evenings, or any time you want a cozy, no-cook meal that feels special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz Brie cheese (double-cream variety, e.g., President or Ile de France)
  • 4 oz Aged Gouda (firm, nutty, with crunchy crystals)
  • 2 oz Fresh goat cheese log (e.g., Vermont Creamery)
  • 4 oz Prosciutto di Parma (thinly sliced)
  • 4 oz Genoa salami (sliced into thin rounds)
  • 2 oz Sopressata (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • 1/2 cup Mixed olives (Kalamata and Castelvetrano)
  • 1/4 cup Cornichons or small pickles
  • 2 tbsp Fig jam or honey
  • 1/4 cup Roasted almonds or Marcona almonds (salted)
  • 1/4 cup Dried apricots or figs
  • 1 small Apple or pear, sliced (tossed with lemon juice to prevent browning)
  • 1 small Baguette, sliced and toasted (or crackers like Raincoast Crisps)
  • Seed crackers or water crackers (sturdy enough for toppings)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme (for garnish, optional)
  • Edible flowers (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your board (2 minutes): Start with a clean, dry board. Place small bowls for olives, jam, and cornichons in a triangle shape—one at top left, one at top right, one at bottom center.
  2. Place the cheeses (3 minutes): Put the brie wheel whole on the board near one bowl. Slice aged gouda into thin triangles or cubes and fan them out. Place goat cheese log with space around it. Arrange brie center-left, gouda on right, goat cheese near bottom.
  3. Add the meats (2 minutes): Fold prosciutto slices into loose ribbons or waves. Arrange salami slices in a slight overlapping pattern (fan or small pile). Place prosciutto near brie, salami near gouda, sopressata in any gap.
  4. Fill in with accompaniments (3 minutes): Spoon olives, cornichons, and fig jam into their bowls. Scatter almonds in small clusters. Place dried apricots or figs in little groups. Fan out apple or pear slices near goat cheese. Add toasted baguette slices and crackers in several spots around the board.
  5. Garnish and adjust (2 minutes): Tuck rosemary or thyme sprigs between ingredients. Check for empty patches and fill with extra crackers or almonds. Aim for an abundant but not crowded look.
  6. Serve immediately (1 minute): Enjoy right away while cheese is cool and crackers are crisp. Place board in center of table or coffee table, grab two plates, and dig in. Light a candle and play soft music for ambiance.

Notes

Take cheese out of fridge 30 minutes before assembling for best flavor. Balance textures: creamy, firm, crunchy, chewy, crisp. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave breathing room. Fold prosciutto into ribbons for height. Place complementary items near each other (e.g., fig jam near brie, apple near goat cheese). Keep a damp paper towel handy for sticky fingers. For make-ahead: prep fruit and slice baguette night before; store apple slices in water with lemon juice.
