These maple pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are incredibly moist, perfectly spiced, and studded with melty chocolate chips. Made with real maple syrup and simple ingredients, they’re a fall favorite that even pumpkin skeptics love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups (210g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup (240g) pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup (160g) pure maple syrup
  • ¼ cup (50g) packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk (whole, 2%, or oat milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Fold gently with a rubber spatula until just combined (about 10-12 strokes). Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips with a few gentle strokes. Reserve 2 tablespoons for topping if desired.
  6. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups, filling each about three-quarters full. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top if using.
  7. Bake on middle rack for 18-22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature eggs and milk. Do not overmix the batter. Muffins taste even better the next day. Freeze individually wrapped for up to 3 months.
