These Cozy Mummy Hot Dogs with Cheesy Wrap are a fun, fast, and adorable Halloween dinner that kids and adults love. Made with simple ingredients like hot dogs, cheese, and tortillas, they come together in under 20 minutes for a perfect pre-trick-or-treat meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese (or shredded mozzarella)
  • 8 large flour tortillas (burrito size)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes, optional)
  • Edible candy eyes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the tortillas into strips. Stack two tortillas at a time and use a pizza cutter to slice them into 1-inch wide strips, about 6-8 inches long.
  3. Wrap the cheese around the hot dogs. Take a slice of cheddar cheese and wrap it around the middle of each hot dog. If using shredded mozzarella, pile a small handful around the center.
  4. Start wrapping the mummies. Take a tortilla strip and wrap it around the hot dog, starting at one end. Leave a small gap near the top for the face. Overlap the strips slightly as you go. Use 2-3 strips per hot dog.
  5. Place the mummies on the baking sheet. Make sure the loose ends of the tortilla strips are tucked underneath so they don’t unravel while baking.
  6. Brush with melted butter (optional). This gives the tortillas a golden-brown color and extra crispiness.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the tortillas are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  8. Add the eyes. Once out of the oven and slightly cooled, use a squeeze bottle of mustard or ketchup to dot two little eyes on the exposed hot dog. If using candy eyes, press them gently into the cheese while still warm.
  9. Serve immediately, while the cheese is stretchy and the tortilla is crispy.

Notes

Don’t over-wrap the mummies; leave a gap at the top for the face. Use sliced cheese or fresh-grated cheese for best melting. A pizza cutter gives cleaner strips. Parchment paper is essential for easy cleanup. For extra crispiness, use an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes. Assemble up to a day in advance and refrigerate before baking.
