These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with crescent roll dough, cocktail sausages, and mustard eyes. Perfect for last-minute parties, they’re a crowd-pleaser that disappears in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 cocktail sausages or small hot dogs (about 1.5 inches long each)
  • Yellow mustard (squeeze bottle style)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it along the perforated lines. You should have 8 triangles. Pinch the perforations closed on each triangle so you have solid pieces of dough.
  3. Cut each triangle into thin strips. Using your knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 strips. They should be about 1/4 inch wide.
  4. Wrap the sausages. Take one cocktail sausage and start wrapping a dough strip around it, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ The strip should overlap slightly as you wrap.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on your baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  6. Brush with melted butter if using.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the sausages are heated through.
  8. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Add the mustard eyes. Once they’re cool enough to handle, use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to dab two small dots of mustard on each mummy’s ‘face.’
  10. Serve immediately while they’re still warm.

Notes

For best results, let the crescent roll dough sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before cutting to prevent tearing. Leave a small gap near the top of the sausage when wrapping to create a ‘face’ for the mustard eyes. If making ahead, wrap the mummies and refrigerate on the baking sheet for up to 4 hours before baking; add 2 minutes to the baking time. For extra crispy mummies, broil for the last 30 seconds, watching carefully to avoid burning.
