These fresh and simple Caprese skewers combine cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil with a tangy balsamic glaze, perfect for quick and impressive summer party appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • About 20 cherry tomatoes
  • About 20 fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • About 20 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
  • 12 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • About 20 wooden or bamboo skewers (6-inch)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves thoroughly.
  2. Drain and pat dry the fresh mozzarella balls; slice larger bocconcini in half to match tomato size.
  3. Thread one cherry tomato, one basil leaf (folded if large), one mozzarella ball, and finish with another cherry tomato onto each skewer.
  4. Arrange skewers on a serving platter; sprinkle with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  5. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil if desired.
  6. Generously pour balsamic glaze over the skewers to coat without dripping.
  7. Serve immediately or chill up to 2 hours before serving; bring to room temperature for best flavor.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe ingredients for best flavor. Assemble skewers a few hours ahead but add balsamic glaze just before serving to keep basil fresh. Soak bamboo skewers briefly before grilling to prevent burning. Avoid freezing mozzarella or basil to maintain texture.
