These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are wrapped in golden crescent dough with mustard seed eyes, served with a creamy, spicy mustard dip. A quick and easy Halloween snack or weeknight dinner that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 16 mustard seeds or black sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated sheets, pinch the seams together to form a rectangle. Cut the dough into 16 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  3. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each strip of dough (about 1/8 teaspoon per strip).
  4. Take a mini hot dog and wrap a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Press the end gently to seal. Use a toothpick to hold it in place if needed.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  6. Press two mustard seeds (or black sesame seeds) into the exposed hot dog area to create eyes.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. While the mummies bake, make the dip: In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  9. Let the mummies cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a serving plate.
  10. Serve warm with the spicy mustard dip.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs—one thin strip is enough. The dip can be made up to 2 days ahead and tastes better after sitting. For a less spicy dip, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper. Leftover mummies can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
