A stunning and effortless snack board featuring crisp apples, creamy caramel, crunchy toffee bits, and salty nuts, perfect for any gathering or a simple Tuesday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 medium apples (a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (flaky salt like Maldon)
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits (Heath bits recommended)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese (sliced thin)
  • 4 oz brie cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup pretzels (mini pretzels or pretzel sticks)
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples (5 minutes): Wash and dry all apples thoroughly. Cut them into thin slicesโ€”about 1/4 inch thick. If using a mix of apple varieties, alternate the colors as you slice for visual appeal. Toss the slices in a bowl with the juice of one lemon to prevent browning. Let them sit for 2 minutes, then drain and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Prepare the caramel (2 minutes): If your caramel sauce is thick, warm it gently in a small saucepan over low heat or microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stir in the heavy cream until smooth. The consistency should be pourable but not runnyโ€”think maple syrup thickness. Set aside to cool slightly while you arrange the board.
  3. Toast the pecans (3 minutes): Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped pecans and stir constantly for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Watch them carefullyโ€”they burn fast. Remove from heat and let cool on a plate.
  4. Arrange the board (5 minutes): Place your small bowls or ramekins on the board first. Put the caramel in a small bowl near the center, with the toffee bits, chocolate chips, and coconut in separate bowls around it.
  5. Add the apples: Fan out the apple slices around the bowls in overlapping rows. Alternate green and red slices for the best visual effect. Don’t stack them too high.
  6. Add the cheese and accompaniments: Tuck the sliced cheddar and brie wedges between the apple sections. Scatter pretzels and dried cranberries in the empty spaces. Sprinkle the toasted pecans over everything.
  7. Drizzle and garnish: Just before serving, drizzle the caramel sauce over the apple slices and cheese. Sprinkle the toffee bits over the top, then add a pinch of flaky sea salt. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  8. Serve immediately: This board is best enjoyed within 30 minutes of assembly. Set out small plates and plenty of napkins.

Notes

Prep all ingredients ahead of time, but assemble the board no more than 30 minutes before serving to prevent apple browning and soggy pretzels. Taste the caramel before using to ensure quality. For dairy-free, use dairy-free caramel sauce and skip the cheese. For gluten-free, swap pretzels for gluten-free pretzels or extra nuts.
