Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 Honeycrisp apples (medium-sized, firm)
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes (washed, in small clusters)
  • 1/2 cup dried figs (optional)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (e.g., Cabot or Tillamook)
  • 4 ounces brie cheese (at room temperature)
  • 4 ounces goat cheese log (plain or with herbs)
  • 4 ounces prosciutto (thinly sliced)
  • 4 ounces Genoa salami (sliced into thin rounds)
  • 1/2 cup candied pecans
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (lightly toasted)
  • 1 cup assorted crackers (buttery rounds and whole wheat crisps)
  • 1/2 cup sliced baguette (toasted lightly with olive oil)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (local preferred)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Flaky sea salt (e.g., Maldon)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples (5 minutes): Wash and dry the Honeycrisp apples. Cut them into thin wedges, about 1/4-inch thick. Remove the core and seeds. Place the slices in a bowl of cold water with a squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning. Pat them dry just before arranging on the board.
  2. Prep the cheese (3 minutes): Slice the sharp cheddar into thin rectangles or small cubes. Leave the brie whole or cut it into wedges. Roll the goat cheese log into small rounds using your hands, then roll them in chopped fresh herbs or cracked black pepper for extra flavor.
  3. Arrange the meats (4 minutes): Fold the prosciutto slices into loose ribbons or rosettes. Layer the salami rounds in a small pile or fan them out. Place these on opposite sides of the board to create visual balance.
  4. Add the fruit (3 minutes): Scatter the apple slices in clusters around the board. Add small piles of grapes, dried figs, and dried cranberries. Spread them out so there’s color in every section.
  5. Fill in with crunchy elements (4 minutes): Place the candied pecans and walnuts in small bowls or directly on the board. Arrange the crackers and baguette slices in groups near the cheeses.
  6. Add finishing touches (2 minutes): Drizzle honey over the brie and goat cheese. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the apple slices. Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs around the board for a pop of green and aroma.
  7. Serve immediately (0 minutes): Place the board at room temperature. Let guests dig in and discover their own favorite combinations. Leave a little space between elements so people can grab items easily.

Notes

Prep all ingredients separately and assemble just before serving. Apples stay fresh for about an hour after slicing if kept in lemon water. Take cheese out of refrigerator 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. Leave about an inch of space between ingredients for easy grabbing. Use small bowls for sticky items like honey. Pat apple slices dry before arranging to avoid water pooling.
