A simple and elegant fall cheese board featuring sharp cheddar, creamy brie, tangy blue cheese, crisp apple slices, and sticky-sweet candied pecans. Perfect for effortless entertaining and capturing the essence of autumn.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Assorted cheeses (sharp aged cheddar, creamy brie, tangy blue cheese)
  • Fresh apple slices (Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • Seedless grapes or figs (optional)
  • Crackers and rustic bread slices (whole grain or multigrain recommended)
  • 1 cup pecan halves (toasted lightly)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (dark or light)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Spread 1 cup pecan halves on a baking sheet and toast for 8โ€“10 minutes until fragrant. Remove and let cool.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Cook for 1โ€“2 minutes until bubbling and smooth.
  3. Add toasted pecans to the saucepan and stir quickly to coat evenly with the glaze. Work fast as the mixture hardens as it cools.
  4. Transfer coated pecans to a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading out to prevent clumping. Let cool completely, about 15 minutes, until hardened.
  5. Wash and core apples. Slice about 1/4 inch thick. To prevent browning, toss slices in lemon juice or serve immediately.
  6. Arrange cheeses spaced out on a large serving board. Fan apple slices near cheeses. Add candied pecans in small piles around the board. Fill gaps with crackers and bread slices. Add grapes or figs if desired.
  7. Optionally drizzle a little extra honey over brie or blue cheese for added sweetness. Serve immediately.

Notes

Candied pecans can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. Slice apples fresh before serving and toss in lemon juice to prevent browning. Use a sharp knife to avoid bruising apples. Toast pecans while prepping other ingredients to save time. Avoid overcrowding the board for best presentation.
