Spooky Orange Vanilla Halloween Punch - featured image

A creamy, bubbly, and perfectly sweet Halloween punch that comes together in just 5 minutes. Made with orange sherbet, vanilla ice cream, Sprite, orange juice, and a secret vanilla twist, this spooky drink is a crowd-pleaser for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart orange sherbet
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • 2 liters Sprite or 7-Up
  • 2 cups orange juice (pulp-free, not from concentrate preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1-2 cups ginger ale (for extra fizz and spice)
  • For spooky garnishes: ice hands (made with latex gloves and water), gummy worms, orange food coloring (optional), dry ice (optional, handle with care)

Instructions

  1. Prep your garnishes the night before (optional but highly recommended). Fill latex gloves with water, tie the ends, and lay them flat in the freezer. They need at least 8 hours to freeze solid. If using dry ice, buy it the day of and store it in a coolerโ€”not your freezer, it’ll crack the ice.
  2. About 30 minutes before serving, let your ice cream and sherbet soften slightly. Take them out of the freezer and let them sit on the counter. You don’t want them melted, just soft enough to scoop easily.
  3. In your punch bowl, add the orange juice and vanilla extract. Stir them together so the vanilla distributes evenly. Use a whisk for best results.
  4. Add the orange sherbet in big scoops. Drop them in like you’re making an ice cream floatโ€”don’t stir yet. Let them sit and start softening into the juice.
  5. Add the vanilla ice cream the same way. Big scoops, don’t stir. You want the two ice creams to stay somewhat separate at this point so they melt at different rates.
  6. Slowly pour in the Sprite. Pour it down the side of the bowl to preserve the carbonation. If you dump it in the middle, you’ll lose all the bubbles.
  7. Stir gently but thoroughly. Use a large spoon or whisk and stir in a figure-eight pattern. About 15-20 seconds of gentle stirring is perfect.
  8. Add your spooky garnishes. Peel the latex gloves off your ice hands (run them under warm water for a few seconds if they’re stuck) and drop them in. Toss in gummy worms. If using dry ice, add it now with tongsโ€”never touch it with bare hands.
  9. Serve immediately. Ladle into cups. The punch will continue to melt and get creamier as it sits, so give it a gentle stir every 20-30 minutes.

Notes

Let ice cream and sherbet soften for 20-30 minutes before mixing for best texture. Layer ingredients in order: juice first, then ice cream, then soda. Don’t over-stir to preserve carbonation. If punch gets too thick, add more Sprite; if too thin, add more ice cream. Best served within the first hour. For a boozy adult version, add 1 cup vanilla vodka or orange-flavored rum. For dairy-free, use dairy-free vanilla ice cream and orange sorbet. For lower sugar, use diet Sprite and sugar-free ice cream.
