These witch finger pretzel rods are dead simple to make, look properly creepy, and taste absolutely irresistible. Made with just four ingredients, they come together in under 20 minutes and are perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12–15 pretzel rods (thick, sturdy ones like Snyder’s of Hanover)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers (e.g., Ghirardelli or white almond bark)
  • 4–5 drops green gel food coloring (e.g., Americolor Leaf Green)
  • ยผ cup sliced almonds (raw, flat pieces)
  • Optional: black or purple sanding sugar, edible glitter, red gel icing for blood effect

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Place sliced almonds in a small bowl; pick out broken pieces and set near work area.
  3. Melt white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth (about 2 minutes total).
  4. Stir in green gel food coloring, starting with 2 drops and adding more until a swampy green shade is reached (about 4-5 drops total).
  5. Hold a pretzel rod by the top and dip the bottom two-thirds into the green chocolate. Let excess drip back into the bowl for about 5 seconds.
  6. Gently tap the pretzel rod against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  7. Place the dipped pretzel rod on the parchment paper.
  8. While chocolate is still wet, press a sliced almond onto the tip at a slight upward angle to form a fingernail.
  9. Using a toothpick or small skewer, drag 2-3 lines across the chocolate to create knuckle wrinkles, about 1 inch apart.
  10. Add tiny lines around the knuckles and at the base of the almond for texture. Wipe toothpick clean between pretzels.
  11. Repeat with remaining pretzel rods, working in batches of 3-4 to keep chocolate from setting.
  12. Let witch fingers set at room temperature for about 30 minutes until firm and matte. (Refrigerate for 15 minutes if in a hurry, but bring to room temperature before serving.)

Notes

Use gel food coloring for best results; avoid liquid drops. Work in a cool, dry room to help chocolate set. If chocolate thickens, microwave for 10-15 seconds and stir. For perfectly straight fingers, rotate pretzel rod while dipping. Make ahead up to 5 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
